Fourthly, make sure you build obedience into your dogs schedule with you. You can always have a go at the commands whilst carrying out your daily tasks for instance whilst hanging your washing up you could practice getting your dog to ‘stay’ at a distance from you.

Finally, when starting to train your dog you need to identify what it is that will give him the most pleasure as a reward. Maybe a popular squeaky toy to play with, heaps of praise from you or a rawhide. It is really important that you get this off pat especially when you are at the beginning so that you have a means to encourage him.
